Alternately, the parameters may also be passed when the actual Auto Routing is initiated, which procedure is described below :

How do I do the Auto Routing?

1. In the Routing tab, click on Auto. You know it is selected when the background in the Auto window changes to white.

2. Pick the stops you want to 'auto-route' by pressing the Shift key on the keyboard, and encompassing all the pink diamonds in a rectangle.

3. A random route is created connecting all of the stops.

4. Click on the Route line by clicking on the Route line when the mouse pointer changes to a hand with the index finger pointing.

5. From the popup that appears, select Auto Route.

6. In the Auto Route window that appears, if you would like to re-define the Parameters for the day from the defaults that may have been defined in the Admin tab -> Advanced Routing, enter the details for Max Vol, Max Amt, Max Pcs and Max Stops.

7. Pick the Service Units that you would like the stops to be assigned to and click on the OK button.

8. A popup window appears that says "Calculating" following which you will notice that Routes have been assigned to the selected Trucks.

If the routing cannot be done due to inability to satisfy the parameters, the corresponding error message is displayed.

Note : One common solution to ensure hassle-free Auto Routing without much emphasis on the values in the Parameters is to specify very large numbers as the parameters.
