How to ‘lockdown’ the Tablet

(for Android devices only)

There are two aspects to locking down the Tablet. The first one is to ensure that the Playstore is not accessed to install any software. The second is to get the DispatchTrack screen to be the ‘home screen’ by default whenever the Tablet is powered on, and of-course to deny access to apps.

For disabling access to Playstore (or, for that matter, any app installed on the Tablet), follow these steps :

1. From Market/Playstore, search for the app Smart Lock from Ukkzzang. This is a free app - Install this.

2. Setup this software with a passcode, and lock Market app or Playstore app or any other app that you do not want the user to access.

For setting up the DispatchTrack Home screen,

1. On your Tablet, download the DispatchTrack Home screen apk from http://www.dispatchtrack.com/files/DispatchTrackHome.apk (Note: The file name is case-sensitive - so take care to key in the address exactly as given here). Install the software.

2. Complete the process by putting a check mark in the check box for using this by default and selecting the DispatchTrack Home Screen.

What happens now?

Every time the Driver powers on the tablet, he will be taken to the DispatchTrack home screen with access only to the apps listed at the bottom of the screen.

In case he accesses the Settings icon, goes to Applications and uninstalls the DispatchTrack Home Screen application, he will still not be able to access the apps that have been locked using Smart Lock, including Playstore, until and unless he puts in the passcode.
